What Are Air Curtains?
Air curtains produce a high-velocity, unidirectional air jetstream as a barrier between adjacent rooms, loading dock doors, or hot/cold areas. The airstream is powerful enough to retain heat, aerosols, contamination, and insects from passing between different manufacturing areas, clean areas, or outdoor areas.
Air Curtains for Doorways and Entryways
Air curtains inundate door entrances with a curtain of air providing both temperature control/environmental separation and flying insect control when the building’s doors are opened.
There are a handful of different air curtain manufacturers, however, one reason we like Mars Air Curtains is that many of our customers have special requirements for sanitation, cleanliness, and HEPA filtration. Mars offers additional accessories and configurations for HEPA filtration, heated blowers, and insect control.
The units are typically wall-mounted horizontally above the door opening. They can also be suspended from the ceiling or vertically mounted alongside the opening.
The air blower is called an “air curtain” for its mechanical effect similar to a softwall cleanroom curtain. Advantageously, instead of a physical barrier divider such as a plastic strip curtain or retractable door, an air curtain is a less intrusive method of maintaining air quality and climate control between adjacent spaces. Forklifts, hoists, or cart traffic pass through without impairing visibility or slowing down to pass through the curtains.

The Mars LoPro air curtain system is a sleek, efficient, and noise reduced system with great features for customer-facing areas. Each model is available with an air curtain heater, or as a standalone air door curtain.
Mars LoPro air curtains reduce building energy costs, keep environments sanitary, and eliminate flying pests or debris. An invisible unobstructed flow of air ensures consistent building temperatures. Deploy at all your openings including entry/exit doors, pass-thru windows, and create internal climatic separation.

Mars Standard 2 Air Curtain Installation
Mars Standard2 Series air curtains are available in two types: Environmental and Flying Insect (ETL sanitation) Control. Either unit is available between 36 inches to 144 inches wide.
Install Heights
The recommended installation height differs for environmental separation versus temperature control.
Standard2 Series air curtains for temperature control applications are typically effective to resist wind loads up to 12 mph. Note that velocities specified for each unit are based on a 60 Hz power source.

Mars Standard STD2 Air Curtains
The Mars Standard Series, a commercial and industrial hybrid, is Mars Air Systems’ most popular energy-saving series. A 1/2 horsepower power motor(s) has an elevated noise floor compared to the 1/6 horsepower LoPro, but, is still quiet enough for most customer-facing environments.

Air Curtain Options and Configuration
HEPA Blower
An optional HEPA filter module is a welcome add-on when air quality and contamination control is a primary objective. The air not only maintains a contamination barrier, but also actively scrubs passing air of particles, mold spores, fibers, and sometimes bacteria or viruses.
