Well-fitting and properly adjusted seating is essential for working productively and safely. A good chair provides support to the user’s back, legs, buttocks, and arms while reducing the chance of contact stress or postures that lead to discomfort, pain, and eventually damage.
There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to office or industrial seating, every employee needs to have a chair that fits and is adjusted to their body to avoid stress and injury. The average office worker spends around 8 hours per day in a chair, and those hours can add up to significant discomfort and injury if you are using a poorly adjusted or too small chair.
America is seeing obesity rates climb year over year with over 30% of adults considered “obese”. There are many factors that are contributing to that statistic and many opinions about how this trend can be reversed but those discussions and opinions are not what we are focused on today, the how and why doesn’t change the fact that we have larger workers in all industries that need safe, comfortable seating and we are seeing more and more manufacturers producing solutions to accommodate these users.
One of those manufacturers is BioFit. BioFit is dedicated to design and quality and has been introducing ergonomic seating solutions to many markets for the past 70 years. Today, we are focusing on the BioFit Intensive Plus FSP Seat. This chair is capable of holding up to 500 lbs. so that no matter your size you can work comfortably and safely.
The BioFit Intensive Plus is a sleek chair with a large saddle-shaped seat with a waterfall front to allow for even weight distribution. The backrest is generous, contoured and molded to provide lumbar and kidney support. The BioFit Intensive Plus has a 5-point star-shaped base with dual-wheel casters that have a 165 lb. per caster weight capacity.
Standard Features:
- Backrest: 20″ x 23″ with lumbar and kidney support
- Seat: 21″ x 19″ x 3″ with a waterfall front
- Seat Height Adjustment Range: 20″ – 25″
- Base: Polished Aluminum 5-point star base, 27″ W
- Executive Tilt Control: Executive Tilt Control with Seat Slider. Pneumatic seat height adjustment, backrest height adjustment, seat and backrest swivel/tilt in unison, tilt-tension control knob and single-lever seat tilt lock in any position.
Optional Features:
- Arm Rests
BioFit has created this chair to support heavier employees because the dangers of using a chair that cannot handle the weight can lead to significant injuries outside of the normal risks of improper seating. Some of the hazards facing larger employees in chairs not designed for them is the possibility of the back breaking and the user falling backwards causing head injuries. Larger employees usually rely on the armrests more heavily to get out of chairs, and when that chair is not built for that weight they tend to fail which can cause significant fall injuries.
While it is important for each and every employee to have seating that they can rely on and that will provide comfort and stability to aid in successful productivity, it is also a matter of dignity and safety for our growing numbers of obese workers to have seating that fits them and offers the same level comfort and success.
Production Automation believes that everyone deserves to work at their best, and we try to provide a wide range of products that accommodate every employee.
