Permabond Adhesives

Permabond Anaerobic Adhesives & Sealants

For Threadlocking, Pipe Sealing, Gasketing, and Retaining

By definition, anaerobic adhesives remain liquid until isolated from oxygen in the presence of metal ions, such as iron or copper. For example, when an anaerobic adhesive is sealed between a nut and a bolt on a threaded assembly, it rapidly “cures” or hardens to form a tough cross-linked plastic that will bond quite well to many metals.

Anaerobic applications differ widely; applications requiring high shear strengths and resistance to temperatures as high as 230°C (445°F) will find ready solutions from Permabond. For sealing, bonding, locking solutions there are wicking and gap fill grades, available for both manual and automatic dispensing methods. A range of room temperature fixture times offers maximum flexibility in product assembly.

Retaining

Permabond‘s capabilities in formulating application-specific adhesives led to the development of bonding products for retaining applications once reserved for mechanical joining methods such as keyways, interference fits, or shrink fits.

Permabond‘s high performance anaerobic formulations provide 100% surface-to-surface contact while mechanical joining techniques provide only 20% of surface-to-surface contact. The resulting surface area increase allows for a greater load carrying capacity, more than five times that of mechanical joining techniques. Additionally, these retaining compounds allow for relaxed machine tolerances, drastically reducing costs and increasing the life of the components. They eliminate the need for heated joining processes providing more efficient processing.

Threadlocking

Permabond‘s thread locking sealants are a cost effective and superior alternative to lock washers, locking threads, and studs. Permabond has a complete line of anaerobic threadlockers. They prevent loosening due to vibration or thermal expansion on all metal threaded fasteners and provide corrosion resistant seals.

The wide range of visocsity spans from very low wicking grades for post assembly sealing and weld porosity sealing to high viscosity for large nuts and bolts. Sealants are available in permanent and removable grades as well as high temperature resistant grades and NSF/ANSI 61 certified grades.

Pipe Sealing

Permabond pipesealing products are found in various industries including fire protection, HVAC, and plumbing. These PTFE based formulations allow easy assembly and provide an instant seal of 1000psi and final cure strength generally exceeds that of most pipe material.

The result is a seal which is inert to hydrocarbons, mnost acids, solvents, steam, and glycol-based products. The product line covers a full range of viscosities and includes products with NSF/ANSI 61 certification and BAM approval for oxygen contact to 10bar (145psi) at up to 60°C.

Gasketing

Permabond‘s gasketing products include high viscosity sealants designed for specific performance requirements of gasketing applications. Permabond gasketing sealants improve load transfer and stress distribution across flanges. They eliminate the need for re-tightening flange bolts, and are corrosion resistant.

Permabond‘s gasketing product line includes high-performance anaerobic gaskets for all metal to metal applications and offers products that resist high temperatures and very flexible products that ease removal from soft metals such as brass and aluminum.
